About

I studied computer science and engineering in India, became an industrial designer in Sweden, got interested in the statistical way of looking at Nature along the way, and then wound up in Finland, naturally. In between I split a decade working as a R&D consultant, a naïve inventor and a languished founder, and as a researcher on technologies for securing commons and improving public goods. Consequently, what was by design and what was by default continue to fascinate me. This website hosts a selection of my thoughts—scattered fragments, really—of all the various subjects and topics that interest me.

The common theme of my work has always been about making solutions—from products to engineered systems—ecologically sound and economically sustainable. I am fascinated by how ‘systems’ form and fail. To that effect, I research methods and develop computational tools for incorporating statistical insights from big data on biodiversity, climate and economics directly into the product development lifecycle. The goal is to ensure that economic viability does not lead to ecological insolvency. I share aspects of my progress and failures with regard to this research in scattered fragments.
